VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Trickle Up believes in the power of volunteerism and activism and
appreciates your interest. Past volunteers have assisted
with graphic design, copywriting, media outreach and marketing, research,
special events, fundraising, data entry and technical assistance. Our
volunteers have played an important role in our growth and success.
LIBRARY VOLUNTEER
Trickle Up is seeking one Library Volunteer to organize our library of about 1,200 items. The tasks include: discarding outdated items, grouping remaining items into about 10 broad subject categories, choosing a cataloguing system, assigning items a catalogue code, preparing catalogue code labels and affixing them to all items, entering all catalogued items into an Excel spreadsheet that is easy to update, and proposing an update system for the addition of new documents. Research on best practice for archiving materials would be a useful input to these tasks.
The ideal volunteer will be highly organized, have a good sense of humor, be able to work with a minimum of supervision, and be able to commit enough time to complete the job by August 31, 2008. Library experience and experience in poverty alleviation work preferred. In return, the volunteer will have the chance to work with a committed, highly skilled and fun team. Trickle Up has a family-friendly work environment and flexible working hours.
Interested persons should email a cover letter and resume to Susannah Hopkins Leisher, Director of Programs and Strategic Planning, at shleisher@trickleup.org by Monday, March 31, 2008. We would appreciate your following these guidelines: ensure all documents are in Word and all file names begin with your last name. Please enter “Library Volunteer” in your email subject line. No phone calls, please. All applications received by the deadline will be acknowledged. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
